Design Technology

At Bonnygate Primary school, Design and Technology is taught in a way that builds on pupils’ current knowledge to further develop their understanding of the world they live in. Design and Technology is an exciting subject for our children and it prepares them to be keen researchers and designers, who then make and evaluate a range of products from different historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. Pupils test their products and, in all, they learn skills that are suitable for their individual needs whilst working with tools, equipment, materials and components to make quality products (including food). Children are encouraged to make links between the topics they are learning in order to develop essential life skills like problem-solving skills. This allows for progression of skills and important problem-solving skills to prepare every child for high school and life thereafter.
